
Melba Trevathan Eckstrom, 93, of Cuero passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017. She was born Oct. 25, 1923 in Mexia to the late Howard E. and Macie B. Murphy Trevathan, Sr. Melba married Charles M. Eckstrom on Jan. 24, 1946 in Houston. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for TIRR in Houston. She was a homemaker, seamstress, artist, “Pitty Pat” the clown, loving mom, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by son N. Neal Eckstrom and wife Carol of Cuero; sister, Donna Houser of Houston; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; daughter, Madge Ledkins; sons, Charles H. Eckstrom and Timothy E. Eckstrom ; and brother, Howard E. Trevathan, Jr.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Donna L. Martin officiating. Interment to follow Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
