
Burma Lee Wendel, 76, of Meyersville passed away peacefully at home with her children at her side on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017. She was born March 26, 1940 in Hallettsville to the late Frank John and Ida Era Holly Buschermihle. Burma married Fred Arlen Wendel on Jan. 23, 1960 in Hallettsville. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, active in the Altar Society and a CCD teacher. Burma was a homemaker and enjoyed time with her family and cherished all of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, watching hummingbirds and being a prayer warrior for all.
She is survived by daughter, Sharon Foerster (Tracey) of Meyersville; sons, Mark Wendel (Michelle), Alan Wendel (Cindy), Collin Wendel (Jennifer) all of Meyersville and Karl Wendel (Amanda) of Victoria; grandchildren, Kelsey Wendel, Kayla Wendel, Wendel Foerster (Rebecca), Corey Foerster (Brittany Wesneski, fiancee), Klent Foerster, Dane Foerster, Ray Wendel, Dusty Wendel (Erin), Zachary Wendel, Carol Wendel, Nathan Wendel, Aaron Wendel, Haley Wendel and Kelly Wendel; and great-grandchildren, Natalie Foerster and Jett Foerster.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and sister, Charlene B. Horton; grandchildren, Hope and Heather Wendel.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Wendel Foerster, Ray Wendel, Corey Foerster, Dusty Wendel, Nathan Wendel, Klent Foerster, Zachary Wendel and Dane Foerster. Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of South Texas, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
