
Ms. Genivieve Lee Barnett (“Geni”, “GiGi”, “Sissy”) was born Sept. 13, 1981 in Long Beach, California to Kenneth L. Barnett Sr. and Tammy D. Barnett. She attended the public schools of Lake Elsinore, California. At an early age Geni professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was saved and Baptized at Faith Baptist Church in Wildomar, Ca. At the age of 18 Geni transitioned from the state of California to the State of Texas where she continued to reside.
Ms. Genivieve Lee Barnett was blessed to give birth to two beautiful sons Joshua J. Steward and Julius J. Barnett. As a result of Geni’s lively spirit, fun outgoing personality, and generosity she was loved by many. Geni truly enjoyed music and dancing. Geni loved to cook. Geni was a very open and straight forward person who was never afraid to express her feelings and thoughts. Geni was a strong woman.
On March 23, 2017 God called home an angel and GiGi peacefully departed.

Genivieve’s life will be forever cherished through the life of her father, Kenneth L. Barnett Sr.; sons, Joshua J. Steward and Julius J. Barnett; brother, Greg ( Brooke ) Duval; sister, Ora L. Barnett; brother, Kenneth L. Barnett Jr.; nephew Anthony J. Williams; nieces, Somara L. Barnett and Ja’ Lea N. Taylor; grandmother, Ora Lee Slade Franklin; great aunt, Kathryn Scott ( Kaki ); and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held Saturday, April 1 at 12 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home with funeral services to begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Lawrence Roy II officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were La Christian Thomas, Burrell Griffin, James Slade, Kenyatta Griffin, Damascus Brown Ramsay and Joseph A. Ramsay.
Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth L. Barnett, Jr. and Anthony J. Ramsay.
