Judy Thomas Goldman, 51, of Cuero passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2014. She was born September 27, 1963, in Galveston to Gerald G. Thomas and the late Stella Thomas. 
 
She is survived by her daughter, Jana Preiss of Cuero; son, Robert Preiss, Jr. “RJ” of Cuero; sisters, Amanda Brown and Nelda Garcia both of Cuero; brother, Wayland Thomas of New York; and grandchildren, Aariana White, Aron White “Bubby,” Marla Preiss, and Mitchel Preiss.
 
She is preceded in death by her mother; husband, Thomas Mitchell Goldman; and brothers, John Thomas and Dean Thomas.
 
The family will have a memorial service at a later date.

Hertha Rogge, 102, of Runge, passed away on September 12, 2014. She was born March 13, 1912, in Runge, to the late August Monecke and Bertha Sonneborn Rogge.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Rogge; infant daughter, Rose; sisters; Augusta Wunderlich and Ida Rogge; brothers, August Monecke, Paul Rogge, and Otto Monecke.
 
She is survived by friend Leonard Kolodziejczyk and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Visitation and a funeral service were held Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Finch Funeral Chapel-Runge, with Vicar Sue Irvin officiating.

Frieda Wagenschein Buelter

Frieda Wagenschein Buelter, 81, Yorktown, left this earth peacefully on eagles wings to meet her Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday Oct. 7, 2014. She was born Jan. 25, 1933 in Yorktown, to the late O.E. and Marie Range Wagenschein. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and an avid Spurs fan. She was always on the go, and enjoyed helping friends and family, but most of all she loved and cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 
She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Daphne) Buelter; daughter, Paula (James) Mason; sisters, Erna (Garland) Mueller, Viola (Leo) Ehlinger; brother, Victor (Judy) Wagenschein; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Wagenschein; grandchildren, Andrew Buelter, Clinton Buelter, Kristin Ckodre, Blaire Mason and James Mason Jr.; great-grandchildren, Blake Mason and Evan Ckodre; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Leroy Buelter; brothers, Norman (Minn) and Paul Wagenschein; and sister, Clara Mae (Roy) Binz.
 
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014 at Massey Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Rev. Tim Muehlbrad officiating, Andrew Buelter will be pianist. Interment will follow at Westside Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers will be Mike Stacy, Clinton Buelter, James Mason, Jr., Greg Mueller, Chris Wagenschein and Robert Ckodre, Jr.

Wayne R. Meyer

Wayne R. Meyer, 80, of Hot Springs Village, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 23, 2014. Wayne was a devoted Christian, an active deacon, and a founding member of both Balboa and Coronado Baptist churches of Hot Springs Village, where he was remembered for greeting church visitors and introducing them to the congregation.
 
Wayne deeply loved his wife, son, and daughter, and was especially proud of his five grandchildren and great-grandson. He enjoyed living on the lake, gardening, golfing, traveling, playing games, and spending quality time with his extended family and many friends.
 
Wayne was a fourth-generation descendent of German Lutheran immigrants who came to south Texas in 1848. He was born March 8, 1934 in Weesatche, Texas to Charles and Carrie Meyer. After graduating from Texas A&I University, he began a successful 34-year career as a petroleum engineer with Marathon Oil Co.
 
His career took him throughout the country and included time in Henderson, Texas, Shreveport, La., Hattiesburg, Miss., Robinson, Ill., Midland, Texas, Anchorage, Alaska, and Houston, Texas. Wayne and Doris founded WendMar Oil Co. in 1987 and successfully ran the business for more than 20 years. Wayne also served on the board of trustees for Williams Baptist College from 1999-2005.
 
He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Charles Meyer Jr. Loving survivors include his wife of 58 years, Doris Meyer, of Hot Springs Village; son, Mark Meyer and wife Cindy, of Longmont, Colo.; daughter, Wendy Allen and husband Ed, of Johnson City, Tenn.; brother, Lavern Meyer and wife Cathy, of Weesatche, Texas; sister-in-law, Sue Farrow and husband Alan, of Hot Springs Village; grandchildren Wade Allen and wife Brooke, Amy Allen, Amanda Allen, Mitchell Meyer, and Laura Meyer; one precious great-grandson, Beckett Allen; nieces, Judy Miller and Jayne Rickman and nephew Tim Meyer.
 
A memorial service celebrating Wayne’s life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at Coronado Baptist Church, 91 Coronado Drive, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909 with Pastor Greg Stanley officiating.

Kurt Hudgeons, 73, of Cuero passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014. He was born November 2, 1940, in Ander to the John B. Hudgeons and Francis Korth Hudgeons. Kurt loved racing, hog trapping, fishing, and working in his garden. He married his beloved, Sandra Rodgers on June 11, 1997 in Cuero.
 
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Sheryl Hudgeons; step-daughter, Amy Latta; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Aaron Hudgeons; daughter, Eva Spranz; and three brothers.
 
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Karl Biermann officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Frank H. Sturm

Frank H. Sturm, 31, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on Oct. 14, 2014. He was born Oct. 8, 1983, in Pasadena, to Alvin and Rachel Syma Sturm.
 
Frank grew up in Pasadena, Tx, where he graduated from Sam Rayburn H. S. and developed his love for math, the sport of tennis, and riding motorcycles. He attended San Jacinto Community College where his passion for mathematics grew and then he received his B.S. in Math from the University of Houston. He attended Auburn University, AL, for graduate studies and received his Masters in 2011 and his PHD in Mathematics in the spring of 2014 under the joint advice of professors Piotr Minc and Michel Smith in the area of Topology. Frank made many contributions to the department of mathematics and statistics and to Auburn University. He had two very good scientific papers published and he and his advisor recently submitted other articles to Houston Journal of Mathematics.
 
Frank was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Herman J. Sturm and Frank Syma, Jr.
 
He is survived by his parents; sister, Mariel Sturm; brother, Joseph Sturm; grandmothers, Eleanora Sturm and Mary L. Syma.
 
Visitation is 5­-8 pm with a rosary at 7 pm, Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Finch Funeral Chapel ­— Yorktown. Funeral mass is 10:00 am, Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown with Rev. David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

Margaret Lyssy Dlugosch

Margaret Lyssy Dlugosch, 92, of Cuero passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014. She was born April 16, 1922 in Cestohowa to the late Kasper Lyssy & Pauline Pawlik Lyssy. She married Bernard Raymond Dlugosch on January 28, 1942 in Cuero at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Margaret was a lifetime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Altar Society. Margaret's dearest loves were God, her husband, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret worked side by side with Ben to maintain their farm and cattle. She loved supporting St. Michael's Church and School throughout the years, many times by baking her wonderful cakes and goodies for bake sales. She took great joy in her grandchildren, spoiling, nurturing, and loving them. Her favorite hobby was gardening and loved her flowers. She could make any plant flourish and bloom and she maintained them with the same gentle love and understanding she had for everyone and everything. Her most beloved gift to her family was sharing her faith, respect, and love of God that she demonstrated throughout her life in all things and in all ways. 
 
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Ann Pollok and husband, Edward, of Bastrop, Carrie Berger and husband, Jerry, of Waco, Dell Gohmert and husband, Mike, of Victoria, and Barbara Vahalik and husband, Paul, of Victoria; brother, Chester Lyssy of Victoria; grandchildren, Margaret Wright of Red Rock, Emil John Reiman of Lorena, Rhonda Reiman of Hewitt, Eric Reiman of Dallas, Dustin Gohmert of Houston, Kimberly Prichard of Round Rock, Jennifer Jurica of Canyon Lake, Mark Vahalik of Phoenix, and Luke Vahalik of Dallas; and great-grandchildren, Tucker and Tessa Wright, Jody and Jacob Jurica, Dylan Gohmert, and Morgan Heckel.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 70 years; sisters, Mary Tipton, Anna McClendon, Albina Smalley, and Celia Pokluda; brothers, Ed Lyssy, Dan Lyssy, Louis Lyssy, and Conrad Lyssy; and grandson, Eddy Pollok.
 
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 19, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home with the Rosary at 7 p.m. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday 20, October , 2014, at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

Estella Garibay, 70, of Cuero passed away Friday, October 17, 2014. She was born May 31, 1944 in DeWitt County to the late Pete Gonzales and Narcisa Ochoa Gonzales. She married the love of her life, Bisente Garibay, in January of 1962 in Cuero. 
 
She is survived by her husband; sons, Vincente Garibay, Jr., (Sylvia) of Cuero and Ricky Garibay of Cuero; daughter, Bernidine Navarro of Port Lavaca; brothers, Jessie Gonzales, Adam Gonzales, Ruben Gonzales, Daniel Gonzales, and Arthur Gonzales, all of Victoria; sisters, Angie Gonzales and Eva Padron, both of Victoria; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Pete Jr., Joe, and Adam Gonzales; and sisters, Susie Ramirez and Mary De los Santos.

She is survived by her parents; sisters, Yvonne L. Volz (Jason) of Beeville, Eunice L. Ruiz of Round Rock, Caroline Ruiz (Felix) of Shiner, Rosemary Lantz (Micah) of Corpus Christi, and Belinda Gutierrez (Gregorio) of Robstown; and brothers, Pilar T. Ruiz III (Leslie) and Lilton L. Williams, both of Cuero.
 
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Freund Funeral Home. Emmitt Morgan Causey, 75, of Cuero passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014. He was born February 25, 1939 in Laredo to the late Lucille Kruger and Emmitt M. Causey. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter.
 
He is survived by daughters, Cheryl Sweet of Cuero, Charla Jones and husband, Bobby, of Cuero, and Cheri Stone and husband, Matt, of Cypress; long-time companion, Jean Causey; sister, Martha Diebel and husband, David, of Cuero; brothers, Charles Causey and wife, Connie, of LaPryor, and Tommy Causey of La Grange; sister-in-law, Diane Causey; grandchildren, Crockett Sweet of Wimberley, Kayla Jones of Cuero, and Levi Jones of College Station.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Causey.
 
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014, 11 a.m., at Sabinal Cemetery in Sabinal, Texas. Interment will follow.

Nelton Thomas, 54, of Cuero passed away Friday, October 17, 2014.  He was born July 13, 1960, in New Orleans, LA to Nelton Thomas, Sr. and Coren Edwards.
 
He is survived by his parents; step-father, William Edwards; daughters, Nelkasia Graves of Houston, Nadasha Thomas of Victoria, and Ciara Hodge of Austin; sons, Marcus Shade of Victoria, Nelton Thomas III of Austin, Kwamane Thomas of Victoria, Artrel Thomas of Cuero, and Jvon Thomas of Cuero; sister, Dr. Trena Parker (Alonzo) of Killeen; and 12 grandchildren.
 
Visitation will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at My Father's House Church with Pastor Paula Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Rudy Perez, 61, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014. He was born November 13, 1952 in Cuero to the late Juanita Gonzales and Pantaleon Perez. Rudy worked in shipping and receiving at Tandy Brands for many years, was a Medications Technician at Whispering Oaks, and an X-ray technician for Cuero Community Hospital. 
 
He is survived by his sisters, Rita Casey and Diane Mendez (Ernest); brothers, Victor Perez and Gilbert Perez (Emma); and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 25, 2014, 2 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. 
 
Pallbearers include Jonathan Perez, Jason Perez, Atticus Trevino, Terance Taylor, Christian Perez, Marcos Perez, and honorary pallbearer, Joe Gonzales.

She is survived by her husband, Pete Flores Sr.; daughter, Sandy Flores of Keller; son, Pete Flores Jr. and his wife, Monica, of Ft. Worth; brother, Gilbert Villa of Cuero; and grandchildren, Chelsey Velazquez, Abel Trevino III, and Channel Flores, all of Ft. Worth.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mae; and brother, Robert.

Sophia Calhoun, 9, of Bloomington passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014. She was born March 23, 2005 in West Branch, Michigan to Yvonne Castonguay Calhoun and Harold “Hal” Calhoun. She was a fourth grade student at Bloomington Elementary School and was adored by her teachers and many friends. Sophia was a princess and loved the color pink. 
 
She is survived by her parents; brothers, Edward Calhoun of Hale, Michigan, Cole Calhoun of Manchaca, Texas, and Alexzander Calhoun of Bloomington, Texas; aunts, Valerie Castonguay Moore and husband, Brian, of Davison, Michigan, Colleen “Pete” Castonguay Williams and husband, Luke, of Oscoda, Michigan. Regina Renee Calhoun Basinger and husband, Travis, of Victoria, Texas, Toya Calhoun Langenberg and husband, Melvin, of Manchaca, Texas, and Danylle Richey Kavouras and husband, Theo, of Cleveland, Ohio; grandparents, Eileen and Victor Kindell of Sand Lake, Michigan and Marion and Marjorie Calhoun of Victoria.
 
She was preceded in death by grandfather, Robin Castonguay and uncle, Jesse Castonguay.
 
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero, Texas. Services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014, 10 a.m., at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Bowman of First Baptist Church, Bloomington, Texas officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero.

Jerry DeWayne Pantallion

Jerry DeWayne Pantallion passed away at his residence in Cuero on Oct. 18, 2014. He was born Sept. 15, 1976. Jerry was a sous chef at the Eagleford Restaurant in Cuero.
 
He joined his father, Jerry Pantallion; mother, Elnora Nowling; and grandfather, James Nowling, who preceded him in death.
 
Left to cherish his memories are his fiance, Melisa Booth, of Cuero; sister, Lakeshia; son, Jerry, of Houston; two grandsons, Isaac and Braison; granddaughter, Elyana; two stepchildren, R.J. Elliott and Kimberly Elliott, of Cuero.
 
Jerry was laid to rest Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, in Houston. His family and friends from Cuero and Victoria will gather at his place of residence at a later time to pay their respects.
 
Jerry touched the lives of many people and truly will be missed by many. Jerry was one of a kind.

Deloris Ann Gaus, age 80, passed away suddenly October 23, 2014.
 
She was born February 3, 1934 in Westhoff to Fritz Peters and Leona Schroeder Peters. Her mother died at a very young age, and she was raised by her step-mother, Leona Wendel Peters.
 
Deloris was a true community servant. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women of the Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Garden Gate Club, Progressive Study Club, Friends of the Library, Texas Master Gardeners, Shiner Heritage Quilters Guild, Texas German Society and American Legion Auxiliary.
 
Survivors are daughters, Katherine Lewis (Ricky) of Belton and Conyetta Gaus Swaney (Joe) of Yoakum; son, Malcolm C. Gaus (Diane) of Pearland; grandchildren, Stephanie Gaus Schuckenbrock (Luke), Eric Gaus (Kimberly), Brian Lewis (Lacy), Kimberly Lewis Schutz (Matt),Vanessa Gaus Feldschau (David), Darron Gaus (fiancee’ Katie Chumchal); great-grandchildren, Gunner and Austin Schuckenbrock, Molly, Abigail and Bailey Gaus, Baelynn Lewis, Westin Schutz, Landon Feldschau; step-grandchild, Hanna Feldschau; brother, Elroy Peters of Meyersville and step-brother, Nolan Wendel of Cuero; nephew, William J. Natho of Yoakum; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents and step-mother; husband, Elwood J. Gaus; son, Elwood Barrett Gaus and his wife, Sandra Karnei Gaus; brother, Wilfred Peters; step-sister, Evelyn Wendel Weischwill.
 
Visitation was held 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Delta Kappa Gamma honors were at 2:30 p.m.
 
Funeral service 2 p.m., Monday, October 27, 2014 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Mielke and Rev. Gary Goodson officiating. Graveside service was held at 4:30 p.m., at Nordheim Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers: Jason, Jared and Jeff Natho, John Knape, Edwin Steinmann and James Pohl.

Rosemary V. Carbonara

Rosemary V. Carbonara, 91, of Cuero, TX passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014. She was born on November 17, 1922 in Ottine, TX to Richard and Mary Blakeslee Ryan. She married her beloved, Richard “Neal” Carbonara, on December 28, 1946 in New York City.
 
She is survived by her daughters, Rosemary A. Bitterly of El Lago, TX, Roberta M. Blank (Chuck) of Cuero, Rheta V. Williams (Mike) of Cuero, Regina A. Koenig (Stanley) of Victoria, and Rhonda F. Jasso (Raymond) of Fulshear, TX; sons, Richard N. Carbonara, Jr. (Chris) of Cuero, Raymond J. Carbonara (Lori) of Seminole, FL, Russell T. Carbonara of Cuero, and Ryan P. Carbonara of Spring, TX; brother, William Vincent Ryan; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 65 years; daughter, Virginia L. Carbonara; brothers, Richard Ryan and Bernard Patrick Ryan; sister, Frances Aileen McMahan; son-in-law, Joseph Bitterly; and daughters-in-law, Marjorie and Linda Carbonara.
 
Visitation will be held Friday, October 31, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary starting at 6 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. Services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1 p.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Cuero with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers include William Carbonara, Gregory Bitterly, Joseph Bitterly, Daniel Blank, David Blank, Douglas Blank, Robert Neal Williams, and Brian Williams.
 
Honorary pallbearers include Julia Stafford, Diana Torres, Donna DiCenso, Kim Koenig, Michelle Koenig, Stephanie Koenig, Allison Koenig, Carmel Jasso, Shelby Jasso, Rachel Byrne, Christine Harper, Cathy McKnight, Brian Carbonara, and Joey Carbonara.

Twyla Henze Nau

Twyla Lemar Henze Nau, age 77, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Oct. 30, 2014, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, TX.
 
 A native of Yorktown, TX, she was born on June 12, 1937, to the late Gerhardt Gus Henze and the late Sadie Henze. She was married to her husband of 48 years, the late Travis Wayne Nau, until his death in 2004.
 
 A long-time resident of Nederland, TX, she was a member and former choir director at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nederland. Twyla began teaching at Nederland ISD in the 1973-1974 school year. In 1975 during her first year at NHS, she started the iconic show choir, Ned & Company. She was the director of Ned & Co. and choir until her retirement in 2009.
 
 She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Stevenson and husband, Scott, of Nederland, and Cory Nau of Lewisville, TX; her sister, Gerry Riske and husband, Victor, of Yorktown; her sister-in-law, Judy Zizmont and husband, Ed, of Nederland; and two granddaughters, Erica Gremillion and husband, Brandon of Houston, TX and Jill Stevenson and fiancée, Beau Blackwell, of Nederland. She is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Sage Paisley Gremillion, and many loved nieces and nephews.
 
 A gathering of Mrs. Nau’s family and friends was from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2014, at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2711 Helena Avenue, Nederland. Her funeral service was at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2014, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Nederland, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.  An additional service for Mrs. Nau was at 10 a.m., Tuesday November 4, 2014, at Massey Funeral Home, 779 North Riedel Street, Yorktown, with her interment following at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Yorktown.
 
 Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Nau’s memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 234 North Gohmert Street, Yorktown, Texas 78164.

Leroy Riemenschneider

Leroy Riemenschneider, 97, of Yorktown died Wednesday Oct. 29, 2014.  He was born  April 28, 1917 in Goliad County to the late Adolph and Meta Friedricks Riemenschneider. He owned and operated a water well drilling company in Progesso, TX.
 
He is survived by his sisters Ruby Stearn of Woodsboro, Virginia Potchinski of Terrell, Meta Louise Gruetzmacher of Weesatche, Verlie Yoast of Yorktown, brother Charles Riemenschneider of Weesatche and grandson,  Donald Riemenschneider. 
 
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Gene Riemenschneider and second wife Annie Riemenschneider,  son Donald Gene Riemenschneider, sisters Aline Rietz, Gladys Finto and brothers Adolph and Dixon Riemenschneider. 
 
Memorial graveside service will be 1:00 pm Sunday Nov. 9, 2014 at Weesatche Cemetery.
