
Spc. Kerry Michael George Danyluk, 27, passed away on April 15, 2014.
Kerry was born on November 1, 1986 in British Columbia, Canada to Diane and Kenneth Danyluk. Kerry moved to Texas at the age of 8. He graduated from Yoakum High School and attended Victoria College. His next move brought him back to BC Canada for two years where he worked, made great friends and enjoyed lots of adventures.
His primary mission in life was to join the military, which in October 2010, he joined the United States Army. Basic training took place in Ft. Benning, Georgia. He went through Infantry and Airborne and was selected for Ranger Assessment and Selection program which he completed with Top Shot award.
Kerry was deployed to Afghanistan with the 75th Ranger Regiment. Upon his return to the US, he was transferred to Ft. Drum, NY and assigned to 10th Mountain Division 2-87 Scout Unit and became a Scout Sniper. He was deployed in November of 2013 for his second tour in Afghanistan.
Critically injured while on patrol on April 12, 2014, he passed away peacefully with family at his bedside a few days later in Landstuhl, Germany. During his short military career, he was highly awarded and very respected.
Kerry touched so many lives and those who knew him, loved him and called him brother and friend.
His strong sense of direction drove him to reach all of his accomplishments that he set out for. His quiet strength, sense of adventure, love of his friends and family and infectious humor will be desperately missed.
Kerry is survived by his mother, father, sister and brother.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Faith Family Church with Pastor Larry Helms officiating. A reception will follow at his family’s home after the service.
