Allen Alfred Albrecht, 88, of Mission Valley, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015. He was born March 13, 1926 in Mission Valley to the late Alfred Frederick and Bertha Adickes Albrecht.

As a young boy in the country, he spent countless hours chasing rabbits and hunting squirrels. As he grew, he discovered he had a real love for coon hunting, which he did for many years. In his younger years, horses were a necessity. Later in life, that led to a love of horses and he became well known as being quite the horse handler and cowboy.

Allen was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy.  He married Violet Ann Lucas on Feb.  19, 1966 in Brooks County. Allen spent over 40 years working in the oilfield industry as a roughneck and a business owner. He enjoyed tending to his Brahman cattle and spent countless hours visiting with friends and family at Dairy Queen and Ful-o-Pep. He never left home without his “bonnet,” otherwise known as a cowboy hat. Allen was especially proud of his family and had a tremendous love for his grandchildren.

He is survived by daughters, Mary Harris (Clayton) of Springfield, Mo., Cindy Hamilton (John) of Cuero, and Patricia Albrecht (Baldemar Gonzalez) of Victoria; sons, Wayne Albrecht of Alice, Kenneth W. Albrecht of Victoria, Curtis L. Albrecht (Sharon) of Mission Valley, and Carlton Albrecht (Terry) of Mission Valley; sister, Bernice Morgan of Corpus Christi; sister-in-law, Verena Albrecht of Mission Valley; grandchildren, Justin Albrecht, Amanda Albrecht, Jessica Albrecht, Dallas Albrecht, Chasee Albrecht, Chance Albrecht, Destinee Albrecht, and Courtnee Albrecht, all of Mission Valley, Colton Albrecht of Victoria, Alexandra Hamilton of Cuero, Ryan Albrecht (Gillian) of Round Rock, Stacy Albrecht (Wesley Nall, fiancé) of Bay City, Nicole Coble, Thomas Coble, and Samantha Harris; and great-grandchildren, Wesley Hajek of Bay City and Colby Spratlin of Victoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Violet Ann Lucas Albrecht; sister, Louise Wagner, and brother, William Albrecht.

Visitation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Freund Funeral Home with the funeral service to begin at 10 a.m. Chaplin Carl Schneider will officiate. Interment will follow at Mission Valley Cemetery.
