
Saturday, March 7, 2015, Dorothy Lucille Matocha passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, after a battle with cancer. Born June 26, 1929 to Joe and Hulda Stoeltje in Cheapside, Texas. She graduated from Cuero High School in 1947.
She later met the love of her life and married Reginald Ray Matocha on June 21, 1954. They resided in Corpus Christi, Texas and had one son, Rodney. They were married 27 years before cancer took him away. They owned and operated a local business, Marco Electronics, which has been in business for over 50 years. She continued working until diagnosed with cancer in 2012. She retired at the age of 83. Her son, Rodney continues to operate the family businesses. She also owned D&R Ranch near Yorktown, Texas. She loved the outdoors and had a knack for growing plants. She was known for having a green thumb.
Her granddaughters tell us how much they will miss spending time with her at the ranch and for all their private jokes and advice. Dorothy was a strong independent hardworking woman, a loving mother, granny, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Ray Matocha; parents, Joe and Hulda Stoeltje; brother, Joe Bailey Stoeltje; and nephew David Sutherland.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Rodney Ray Matocha and daughter-in-law, Alice Cooper Matocha of Corpus Christi, Texas; two granddaughters, Stephanie Cooper Kemp (Dalton), Heather Nicole Matocha both of Corpus Christi, Texas; three great-granddaughters, Kaitlynn, Kinzie, Kassidy all of Corpus Christi, Texas; siblings, Lila Sutherland of Corpus Christi, Texas, Bea and Hilbur Mason of Corpus Christi, Texas; faithful friend and loyal ranch manager for many years, Refugio Guerra; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Seaside Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Joe Sutherland, Ervin Cooper, Michael Stegint, Kyle Stegint, Mark Tuley, and Brad Hoover.
