Juan Manuel Mejias Sr. (El Majias), 67, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015. He was born November 28, 1947 in Lamesa to the late Steven Mejias and Josie Zapata. He worked as a rancher and always enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by mother, Josie Zapata; daughters, Mary Lou Martinez of San Antonio, Geraldine Gigi Mendoza of Cuero; sons, John Manuel Mejias Jr. of Cuero, Steve Stanley Mejias of Cuero; sisters, Alice Herrera of Cuero, Rachel Zapata of Cuero; brothers, Steve Mejias of Cliburn, Ben Zapata Jr. of La Grange; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; wife, Mary Mejias; and sister, Mary Dillingham.
Visitation will be held at Freund Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 6-8 pm with a Rosary to begin at 7 pm.
Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 9 am with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Steve Mejias Sr., James Jones, Isidro Mendoza Sr., Steve Mejias, Michael Renteria, Isidro Mendoza Jr., Manuel Anzualdua, and Stephen Mejias. Honorary pallbearers will include Christopher Perez Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Juan Manuel Mejias.
