Paul Hamilton Breeden III

Paul Hamilton Breeden III passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013. 
 
He was born in Cuero to Bess Philpott and Paul H. Breeden II on Sept. 29, 1924. He was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church and was christened on Oct. 28, 1934 by the Rev. Everett Jones. As a young boy, he served many years as Altar Attendant and Acolyte each Sunday.
 
Paul was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Sons of the American Revolution Texas Society. He was also a Counselor for Boy Scout Troop 245 for many years and a recipient of the Order of Arrow.
 
Paul attended Texas A&M and Texas University before entering the Navy during World War II. He was stationed in Florida while training with the Navy B24 and B25 bomber squadron. While in the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Sara Margaret Davidson on Dec. 24, 1945 in Moss Point, Miss. He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Naval Air Squadron June 1946.
 
Paul returned to Cuero after his discharge to help his father in the family owned businesses, Cuero Distributing Company and Cuero Pecan Shelling Company. Later he worked at the DuPont Plant in Victoria for thirty-two years, retiring in 1984. After Paul and Sara Margaret both retired they enjoyed extensive travel across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He also enjoyed the outdoors, his home, yard and overseeing his property in DeWitt, Goliad, and Victoria counties.
 
Paul is survived by their three children whom they loved dearly, Paul (Buddy) Hamilton Breeden IV and wife Doris of Victoria; Susan Margaret Breeden Foster and husband Jeff of Cedar Park; Charles (Chuck) Randall Breeden of Victoria. Grandchildren Margaret “Kristen” Breeden Trial and husband Dr. Jason W. Trial of Pleasanton and Paul (Brad) Hamilton Breeden V and wife Donnelle of College Station. Precious great grandchildren, Jordan Marie, Jayde Elizabeth and Jillian Grace Trial, Taryn Brooke Breeden, unborn twin boys, Paul Hamilton Breeden VI and Donald Edwin Breeden and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sara Margaret, sisters Bess Eloise Breeden, Marjorie Jane Breeden Hesse and Dorothy (Dot) Breeden Blackwell.
 
Pallbearers will be Bob Hesse, Bill Blackwell, Wayne Johnson, Vaughn Kelly, Bruce Goodwyn, Tim Kirkland, and Larry Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will include his Mission Valley neighbors and close friends who extended acts of kindness to him every day, Doris Johnson, Mary Ann and Steven Uresti, John and Dee Dee Uresti, and Jacob Uresti, Jean Blackwell Duderstadt, the staff of Hospice of South Texas, Dr. Anu Dahm, Dr. Dan Dugi, the staff at the Cuero Nursing & Rehabilitation and the wonderful caregivers that stayed with him during his last days.
 
A graveside funeral service will be held on at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero. Father Eric Fenton of Grace Episcopal Church officiating.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust, Victoria, TX 77901 or Grace Episcopal Church, 102 E. Live Oak, Cuero, TX 77954.
